With the last tournament after 30 years at So Kon Po fast approaching, Hong Kong China Rugby, the organisers of the rugby sevens competition are launching a global campaign to invite stakeholders and fans to share their most memorable moments on social media.
Also known as “The Hong Kong Sevens Greatest Hits Relay”, the campaign pays homage to the iconic and unforgettable moments that have transpired both on and off the pitch over the past 30 years at the tournament.
On 5 February, the Hong Kong Sevens will kick start the campaign by sharing a memory across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and Xiaohongshu.
Every day of the campaign will then feature a different memory posted from event stakeholders and Hong Kong Sevens legends such as David Campese and Waisale Serevi.
From 5 February to 5 March, fans who follow the campaign can share their favourite Hong Kong Sevens moment with the world by tagging @hksevens and using #HK7sGreatestHits and #HK7s for a chance to win a literal once-in-a-lifetime experience at the Sevens this April.
The fan whom the judges felt shared the most iconic memory with a great Sevens story behind it will win the Ultimate Rugby Fan Experience prize, including a chance for the winner and a mate to watch the Sevens and rub shoulders with some rugby legends inside the Captain’s Corner at Hong Kong Stadium.
"The Greatest Hits Relay is one of the many ways we are marking this milestone tournament with fans in Hong Kong and around the world,” said Robbie McRobbie, CEO of Hong Kong China Rugby.
“We are so fortunate to have 30 years full of magic to celebrate, and we knew that we wanted to invite fans from across the decades to share their memorable moments as well, hence the Greatest Hits Relay. We hope that fans will enjoy participating, and are very confident that the grand prize winner will enjoy the Ultimate Rugby Fan Experience we have in store,” added McRobbie.
