Cinema chain Cathay Cineplexes was hit with over a three-week server outage where its ticket booking website, app and electronic self-service kiosks were affected.
On 25 April, Cathay Cineplexes said that its website and mobile application were experiencing some downtime and that booking services through its website were temporarily unavailable.

Following this, on 30 April, the company put out a statement that said that moviegoers must purchase their tickets at box office counters of its cinemas and were limited to purchasing tickets two hours prior to the screening.
Only NETS and cash payments were accepted while vouchers and promotional tickets were unable to be redeemed.
“Please be assured we are doing our best to restore our services fully as soon as possible and we apologise for the inconvenience caused,” it said in a statement seen by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.
According to The Straits Times, moviegoers who visited the Cathay Cineplexes outlet at AMK Hub on 30 April were given handwritten tickets that included their names, movie timings and hall numbers on them.
On 9 May, Cathay Cineplexes’s services were mostly back with booking services through its website available for selected outlets which included AMK Hub, Causeway Point, Downtown East, Jem and West Mall. However, movie tickets were still only available for purchase two hours prior to the screening with NETS and cash payment modes accepted.
As of 20 May, a Cathay Cineplexes spokeswoman told The Straits Times that its website is back online, and that the chain is fully operational.
Recently, GOPIZZA also teamed up with cinema chain Cathay Cineplexes over the school holidays to host a special pop-up kiosk at Cathay Cineplex Jem to solidify its 'pizza everywhere' concept. The pop-up provided movie-goers with a novel pizza dining experience in the cinema.
This strategic move underscores GOPIZZA's commitment to transforming the pizza experience, making it convenient for people across all walks of life.
