Malaysia-based digital platform Catcha Digital's wholly-owned subsidiary, iMedia Asia, has signed a conditional share sale agreement to acquire a 60% stake in Framemotion Studio. The acquisition seeks to integrate Catcha Digital's capabilities in digital solutions with FrameMotion's expertise in creating digital experiences and animations.
The company regards this acquisition as a step towards strengthening its position as a leading digital group within ASEAN, with a keen focus on the region's booming digital economy. According to the 2024 SEA e-Conomy report by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company, this economy is valued at approximately RM1 trillion.
FrameMotion is known for its work in immersive and animated experiences, having collaborated with clients such as Petronas, Gamuda, Sephora, L'Oréal, Maxis, OCBC, and Samsung. In 2023, FrameMotion gained attention for co-organising the "Van Gogh alive" exhibition and launching "The greatest artist" exhibition, an AI-driven, multi-sensory experience that attracted over 300,000 visitors. Additionally, the studio reported a profit after tax of RM7.0 million for the year ending 31 December 2023.

Catcha Digital also intends to pursue further strategic investments and acquisitions to enhance its influence in the digital sector.
Patrick Grove, chairman of Catcha Digital, said, "We are very excited about this acquisition and believe that integrating FrameMotion’s cutting-edge expertise with our wide network will enable us to offer highly innovative and integrated solutions to clients across the region. We can’t wait to push the boundaries of digital storytelling with the FrameMotion team."
In tandem, Jeand Pua Yin Chye, co-founder and CEO of FrameMotion, said, "This deal with Catcha Digital is a game-changer for our company. Their acquisition not only validates our creative vision but also accelerates our ability to deliver world-class digital experiences. We look forward to integrating with Catcha Digital’s broad suite of digital solutions to elevate our offerings to clients of both parties."
In December last year, the digital platform was looking to acquire a 51% interest in Malaysian software as a service (SaaS) firm Nexible Solutions for a cash consideration of RM11.38 million, making it Catcha Digital’s entry into the IT sector particularly in software-as-a-service (SaaS) and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, said Catcha Digital.
Nexible is a provider of business-to-business (B2B) SAAS software solutions, with its flagship product Outperform being an AI-powered sales automation platform that enables businesses to effectively manage leads and customer relationships.
