The Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) has recruited 150 volunteers from Tanjong Pagar GRC and Radin Mas SMC as its new Price Kaki Champions.
As Price Kaki Champions, these volunteers will help monitor price changes within their neighbourhood and alert friends and neighbours to the best deals and promotions.
The Price Kaki Champions workshop was held for the first time over the weekend on 4 May 2024. During the workshop, community volunteers were taught how to use the Price Kaki mobile app to compare prices of daily essentials, groceries and cooked food.

“We are living in a time where cost of living is a major concern for many Singaporeans. Through Price Kaki, consumers can compare prices easily and save when buying daily essentials," said Melvin Yong, president of CASE.
"Our Price Kaki Champions play an important role as they help to monitor prices of household essentials in their neighbourhoods and 'suss' out good deals for sharing with others on the app.”
In addition, the Price Kaki Champions were taught how to use Price Kaki to upload deals that they find within their neighbourhoods and to teach others to use the app to compare prices and alleviate cost of living pressures.
The workshop is part of CASE's collaboration with the People's Association (PA) to recruit 2,000 community volunteers as Price Kaki Champions. It was first announced earlier in February.
Price Kaki Champions came about after CASE's study of Price Kaki user behaviour, according to a statement by CASE. It found that beyond price comparison, active users would like more opportunities and avenues online and offline to engage other consumers with similar interests and share deals.
“PA is pleased to have our volunteers help promote awareness of the Price Kaki App. We hope that residents can learn to use the app to help them maximise their spending and better cope with the cost of living," a PA spokesperson said in a statement.
