Bonjour Hong Kong’s founder Wilson Ip Chun Heng has reportedly been declared bankrupt by the High Court, which ordered the retailer's subsidiary company Hop Fung Lung to wind up its business.
Ip failed to appear in court when High Court judge Peter Ng Kar Fai made the ruling, with reports emerging around him owing HK$20 million in debt, according to The Standard.
The report also said Ip told the court last week he would attend the hearing but did not appear eventually. Furthermore, Chung Pui Wan and Ip Wai Tung will be at the hearing on 7 February. In addition, Hop Fung Lung (formerly known as Bonjour Cosmetic Wholesale Center), another subsidiary company of Bonjour Holdings, wound up business due to unpaid debts of HK$3.9 million.
Back in December last year, Bonjour Holdings announced that a winding-up petition was filed by Daily View Investment and Stead On Investment against Hop Fung Lung.
The company will keep its shareholders and potential investors informed of any significant development of the petition and will make further announcements as and when appropriate in accordance with the listing rules, according to the statement.
The company said it will keep its shareholders and potential investors informed of the latest progress as and when appropriate and will announce quarterly updates on its development pursuant to the relevant listing rules. Shareholders and potential investors are advised to exercise caution when dealing in the shares of the company.
