More than just drinks, ATLAS Vending unveils NFT vending machine

ATLAS Vending has launched an NFT vending machine which recently dispensed NFTs in conjunction with Malaysia Day. The company partnered with 13 local NFT artists to showcase their artworks that incorporate local art. It also placed 13 prominently branded vending machines at REXKL, with each one representing a Malaysian state and an NFT artist from the state. This initiative also aims to elevate local artists through a profit-sharing model in which the total sales generated by these NFTs will be shared among all artists involved in this project.

These vending machines are available until 16 December 2022 and each machine contains a total of 300 rare NFT artworks, out of which 50 of them are rare platinum NFTs which will be dispensed randomly. ATLAS Vending is also giving away 59 prizes to consumers who purchase the NFTs, including Nintendo Switch and small ticket prizes of limited-edition merchandise.

According to ATLAS Vending, response towards the 13 NFTs were "phenomenal" as hundreds were seen crowding at REXKL to get their hands on the NFTs. A+M has reached out to ATLAS Vending for additional information.

Kalithasan Sothinathan, senior manager, marketing and ancillary sales of ATLAS Vending, shared that after the success of the Sapot SME campaign last year that was initiated to help SMEs recover, ATLAS Vending now aims to generate the economy through art and culture by creating a platform that will uplift Malaysian artists to make their distinctive artwork more accessible and giving them the recognition they deserve.

“As a vending solutions provider, we are committed to delighting our customers with our creativity and innovation to fulfil their evolving needs. NFTs have surged in popularity in recent years and have completely revolutionised the blockchain sector. Hence, we wanted to bring all 13 local NFT artists together to appreciate their work and draw Malaysians' attention to the NFTs,” said Sothinathan.

He explained that vending machines are typically designed to dispense refreshments. ATLAS Vending's initiative stands as a testimony that the company is capable of going beyond the ordinary, he added.

Pos Malaysia also celebrated Malaysia Day with free NFT stamps. Together with local retail brand APOM, Pos created a stamp folder with one physical stamp sheet of 14 stamps. Each one was designed by an artist representing each state in Malaysia, showcasing the uniqueness, culture and pride of the states. The complete set also comes with three envelopes, three postcards, a specially designed folder and a user guide for redeeming the free NFT stamp.
