Astro Radio has launched its a multilingual entertainment and lifestyle platform, SYOK, that offers Malaysians live radio, original videos, exclusive podcasts, articles and contests. SYOK houses all 25 radio brands under one roof, including ERA, HITZ, SINAR and MY, is available online and on the mobile app to cater to changing media consumption patterns.According to Astro, SYOK has the ability to reach wide and diverse segments of Malaysians through its talents and “extensive reach” online, on social media, radio and on-ground. Besides streaming Astro Radio brands, users will also gain access to SYOK Originals featuring bespoke short-form videos and exclusive podcasts produced by SYOK, known as SYOKcast. SYOK also allows users the opportunity to win prizes and keep abreast of current affairs and latest traffic updates.Astro Radio’s general manager of digital and marketing, Daphne Lourdes, said through additional content pillars such as SYOKcast and bespoke short-form videos, Astro Radio will be able to offer new advertising and sponsorship opportunities for partners to engage with their audiences. Lourdes added that in 2018, it received close to one billion video views across its brands and aims to create more original videos to connect with audiences.“We aim to extend our reach and deepen our engagement with SYOK. We will also focus on growing our SYOKcast network by working with local podcasters to create niche audio content,” she added.Recently, Ramesh Sankey took over the reins from former Astro Radio and Rocketfuel CEO Jake Abdullah, helming the new role of director of Astro Radio and Rocketfuel. Sankey was previously the chief content officer at Astro Radio, during which he oversaw the creation, curation and execution of content under Astro Radio’s brands.
