Astro Radio has emerged as one of Malaysia’s most popular radio networks in the Nielsen Radio Listenership Survey.
The latest Nielsen Radio Audience Measurement (RAM) survey showed that 52.7% of the Malaysian listening population tune into Astro Radio stations weekly.
Astro Radio has retained its ranking with its top three radio brands in the country namely ERA fm (4.7 million listeners), Sinar FM (3.7 million listeners), followed by THR (Raaga and Gegar combined having 3.6 million listeners). ERA fm, hitz fm, MY FM and THR Raaga continue to solidify their positions as the preferred radio stations in their respective language segments, while THR Gegar remains unchallenged as the No.1 station in East Coast.
Jake Abdullah, chief executive officer of Astro Radio said, “We now have 12.8 million listeners accumulatively on our platform, with the top Breakfast and Drive shows in the country to entertain Malaysians. […]As our brands continue to thrive, our commercial business remains agile and committed to delivering effective solutions and results to all our clients. Everything we do from the content, technology, marketing and advertising perspective is focused on being social, local and mobile.”
He added that the company is committed to driving 360 integrated multi-platform branded content solutions to ensure relevance to all Malaysians. To further strengthen content localisation, Astro Radio has also expanded its presence in East Malaysia to reach a largely untapped market and provide the service of localised content by locals for local listeners.
Earlier this year, Astro Radio enabled listeners to enjoy a personalised content experience anytime and anywhere with the launch of Raku which is its very own radio and music streaming service on mobile and web. Through this platform, users can stream millions of songs and videos, and listen to more than 20 live radio stations. Raku already boasts 117,000 subscribers, just six months after its launch.
