Animoca Brands and HashKey Exchange ink deal to elevate Web3 ecosystem in Asia

Animoca Brands and local cryptocurrency company Hashkey Exchange have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to elevate the digital entertainment and Web3 ecosystem in Asia.
The partnership aims to underscore HashKey Exchange's commitment to expanding its digital asset offerings and aligns with Animoca Brands' vision of mainstream adoption of blockchain gaming and other products and fostering a more inclusive digital economy.
Under the MoU, Animoca Brands and HashKey Exchange will collaborate to establish cooperative opportunities and strategic developments on virtual assets, including providing public education activities about Web3 and the potential listing of certain virtual assets on HashKey Exchange. Animoca Brands will also open an account on HashKey Exchange, emphasising a mutual commitment to compliant virtual asset trading, according to the release.
Furthermore, Animoca Brands and HashKey Group will closely monitor the trends in the digital entertainment economy. Both parties will leverage technologies such as smart contracts and zero-knowledge proofs, promoting the integration of blockchain technology in the digital entertainment sector.

Back in August last year, HashKey Group, the parent company of HashKey Exchange, and another local cryptocurrency company OSL were given the green light from the Securities Futures Commission (SFC) to operate Hong Kong’s first licensed cryptocurrency exchanges for retail investors.
This license uplift aligned with Hong Kong's approach to digital asset regulation and its ambition to become a leading global hub for digital assets allowing retail users to participate in one of the fastest growing asset classes.
