AmBank Group signs MoU with Huawei MY to expand sustainability efforts

AmBank Group and Huawei Technologies Malaysia have reportedly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), in efforts to push their sustainability agenda.
The MoU now comprises of greater cooperation between the two in working together, in support of the introduction of solar energy, green data centres, electric vehicle charging as well as energy storage solutions, according to media reports,
AmBank reportedly stated that through the strategic partnership, it will provide financing and merchant business solutions to all Huawei dealers. Consequently, Huawei will then gain access to the business deposit bundle, with special interest rates. Additionally, according to reports, Huawei dealers will gain access to a dedicated team of AmBank's relationship managers to assist with personalised services and faster loan processing.

The MoU signing was held yesterday in conjunction with AmBank’s International ESG Conference this week. “Let us work with unwavering determination in ensuring a greener future for all of us and the generations to come. Let us start now. Ultimate bottom line is our survival in this planet,” said AmBank in a LinkedIn post.
According to media reports, AmBank said at the conference that the ESG conference aims to underscore dedication to sustainability and pave the way for responsible banking practices in the region. AmBank's group CEO, Sulaiman Mohd Tahir reportedly added that as a constituent of the financial ecosystem, it recognises the crucial role it plays in driving social and economic growth in the communities, stating that its commitment goes beyond banking services, extending empowerment of its communities to foster positive change.
Earlier this year, clean energy solutions provider, Gentari signed an MoU with BMW Group Malaysia. It was done via its wholly-owned subsidiary, Gentari Green Mobility, to explore the implementation of green mobility services and solutions, as well as renewable energy deployment.
According to Gentari, the two parties are currently actively working together to explore potential collaborations in multiple areas. These include the installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure at various facilities, the BMW network of dealerships and various EV fleet solutions in the Malaysian market. It is also set to explore value-adding services for BMW EV owners which include EV charging subscription plans, electric forecourts, portable charging and mobile charging services as well as the deployment of joint renewable energy infrastructure.
