AirAsia is taking its subscription product SUPER+ worldwide with two options open for subscribers. Subscribers can choose SUPER+ Lite, which covers all ASEAN countries, while the SUPER+ Premium provides access to all countries operated by the AirAsia airline group
Amanda Woo, CEO of AirAsia Super App said that the app provides a unique opportunity for travellers from the West who can now use the subscription service to obtain lucrative deals when exploring Asia.
“We are excited to be the only super app platform in the market to bring a product such as SUPER+ to the world and for more to enjoy the AirAsia way of life with this subscription,” she added.
The move into making its Super+ subscription available to all comes shortly after the brand launched its Super App in Indonesia, focusing on Bali as a key international tourist market.
The travel super app unveiled its plans to flag-off its ride-hailing service, airasia ride in Bali to enable an end-to-end travel journey for everyone using the airasia Super App on the. Woo had at the launch said that the team is excited to launch in Indonesia, as the market holds such strong growth potential.
"It might seem like a Herculean task to break through the existing local super app space which is dominated by a few key players, but we have a unique proposition in terms of what we are offering, and a different approach on how we will penetrate the Indonesian market," she said.
Meanwhile, Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A added that the SUPER+ subscription captures the “beauty of the airasia Super App platform ecosystem”, which brings together all of group’s airlines and travel products and services such as hotels, along with our eCommerce offerings such as airasia ride, which is also included as a SUPER+ benefit.
Capital A was formerly known as AirAsia Group, and recently announced that it is restructuring its operations and merging its low-cost airline AirAsia with long-haul carrier AirAsia X. The two will be housed under a new division, called AirAsia Aviation.
Its digital business and logistics will be handled by Fernandes, who stepped down from acting CEO of AirAsia X earlier this month. During the restructuring, Fernandes said, “We were at the sharp end of COVID-19, as were many airlines around the world, but we are coming out of it stronger than before – our airlines and network are fast returning to pre-pandemic levels, and our digital businesses are performing better than many had expected.”
