AirAsia MOVE onboards Ravi Shankar as new CMO

AirAsia MOVE (formerly AirAsia superapp), has onboarded marketing veteran Ravi Shankar (pictured) as its new chief marketing officer, according to Shankar when MARKETING-INTERACTIVE reached out. He will be reporting to Nadia Omar, CEO of AirAsia MOVE.

In his new role, Shankar will manage the branding, marketing and data and growth teams.

Prior to moving into AirAsia MOVE, Shankar was with CARSOME Malaysia as its chief marketing officer for just over two years. 

At CARSOME, Shankar was responsible for branding, marketing, growth, and customer experience across the region in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines.

Shankar is a seasoned branding and AI marketing professional with a diverse skill set that spans across marketing, business, technology, and data.

With over 15 years of experience in the marketing and branding industry, Ravi has a proven track record of success in driving growth, improving customer satisfaction, and increasing revenue for companies in the APAC Region.

This is also the second time that Shankar has been with AirAsia. He first joined AirAsia in January 2017 as its group head of digital marketing for two years. In January 2019, Shankar took on the role of group head of digital marketing and analytics for close to two years. Before Shankar exited AirAsia, he helmed the role of chief growth officer for more than a year. 

"I am excited to be back in the AirAsia ecosystem. The team will harness the power of AI to enhance our marketing efforts," he said in a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE. "This role aligns perfectly with my passion for technology in marketing, aiming to position AirAsia MOVE as a leader in the travel sector," he added. 

Before AirAsia, Shankar was regional head of performance and analytics at Lion and Lion based in Malaysia for two years.

Prior to moving to Malaysia, Shankar was based in India and helmed the role of campaign management lead at Google for close to two years.
