Sumit Ramchandani, life insurance firm AIA's group head of omnichannel marketing, has stepped down from the role, as confirmed by Ramchandani when MARKETING-INTERACTIVE reached out.

His prior experience, in the region, includes launching and leading numerous martech platforms and digital agencies. Before his stint at AIA, Ramchandani was at fintech firm BondEvalue as its senior advisor in marketing. In his role, Ramchandani worked on product marketing and digital marketing to drive growth in the business to consumer business. He was in the role for just under five years.
Prior to that, he was the APAC managing director of AI-powered marketing platform Blueshift, a role he held for a year.
Most notably, Ramchandani held the role of CEO of AirAsia Media Group from 2019 to 2021 where he launched the adtech and media businesses and managed a team of creative, partner sales & media executives. He also managed direct sales and channel partnerships for data solutions and programmatic buys. Prior to that, Ramchandani spent just over four years at Lion & Lion in various leadership positions such as managing director and chief client officer, head of markets.
"My greatest achievement in AIA is having crossed paths with some of the most incredible people and leaders within my core function and outside of it, said Ramchandani. "Some have left a lasting impact on me in terms of learning and attitude. Relationships tend to have a much longer staying power than any single job or opportunity," he added.
He explained that purely from a work standpoint, his role at AIA opened his eyes to the incremental value and growth that can be extracted in just being able to bring the marketing and sales together.
"It’s the one area that I am looking forward to exploring more opportunities in, taking on bigger challenges in and generating more value," he said before adding that his next move has still yet to be determined but that it will be related to marketing and sales.
Most recently, AIA Singapore also named Irma Hadikusuma as its new chief marketing and proposition officer, effective 1 December this year. Hadikusuma previously helmed the role of chief product proposition officer at the firm.
Under Hadikusuma's leadership, the integrated marketing and proposition function will look to propel AIA Singapore’s customer-focused agenda, AIA said in a statement. This strategic integration will harness the synergy of AIA Singapore’s brand and customer value proposition in delivering our health and wealth strategies to further its commitment to helping the community live healthier, longer and better lives.
