Ahmad Nasyami Mihat has taken on a new role as head of marketing at Hyundai Malaysia, leaving his position as head of marketing at PROTON International Sales beginning March this year.
Nasyami announced the move on LinkedIn and said “There’s a lot in the pipeline as we develop new strategies and initiatives to strengthen Hyundai’s presence in the Malaysian market. I’m looking forward to sharing more updates soon.”
In his previous role as head of marketing at Proton, Nasyami managed market entries across Brunei, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Mauritius, and South Africa. These entries were for the Proton X50, X70, and X90 models between 2020 to 2024.

At the end of 2024, Proton had recorded a 119% increase in sales performance, and a 146% improvement in parts sales performance. The automotive brand also grew its export sales by 31% from the year before. Egypt also emerged as the top export destination with 1,748 units in the year, boosting Proton’s export volumes.
Prior to his five-year stint at Proton, Nasyami was the head of advertising, promotions and public relations at Honda Malaysia. He was at the company for four and a half years, before leaving in December 2016.
His early career in the automotive industry began in Proton Edar, where he worked for 6 years as assistant manager of marketing communications until 2012. He also spent a short amount of time in Proton Motor Thailand as head of marketing.
