As the Lionel Messi mania hits Hong Kong ahead of the highly anticipated match between football team Inter Miami and the Hong Kong team, adidas has unveiled a specially designed outdoor ad on a junk boat to welcome the iconic football player to the city.
As part of the campaign, creative outdoor advertisements will be presented across the harbour. One of the highlights is a specially designed outdoor ad on Hong Kong's junk boat, capturing the attention of locals and visitors alike.
Additionally, a massive video wall display will be placed in Tsim Sha Tsui East, providing a dynamic visual experience to engage the audience and building excitement for Messi's arrival. The campaign is done in collaboration with creative agency We Glow Hong Kong.
Starting today, fans can also visit the adidas Inter Miami CF pop up stores at Times Square in Causeway Bay and The Forest HK in Mongkok, which feature the Inter Miami CF changing room-inspired setup and capture the photo spot with the Messi Jersey.
The Messi's iconic Number 10 jersey and other accessories such as scarf, beanies, and caps will be available at the pop-up store. The pop up store will be available until mid February.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Lionel Messi back to Hong Kong," said May Wong, director, brand activation at adidas Hong Kong. "Messi's visit holds a special place in the hearts of his fans, and this campaign is our way of showing our gratitude for their unwavering support.”
“It is an honour for us to be a part of this extraordinary campaign welcoming Lionel Messi to Hong Kong," said Florence Kong, managing director of We Glow Hong Kong. "Messi's visit holds immense significance for his fans, and we wanted to create an unforgettable experience that truly celebrates his talent and the love he receives from his Hong Kong supporters."
It has been a decade since Messi last visited Hong Kong. Together with Inter Miami, he will be playing a highly anticipated match in the Hong Kong Stadium on Sunday, an extraordinary opportunity for fans to witness the football legend live in action.

On the other hand, the Hong Kong government is in talks with the US soccer club Inter Miami regarding football star Lionel Messi's visit to Hong Kong this week, to arrange additional activities for him and his teammates to promote Hong Kong.
Speaking on a radio programme on 28 January, secretary for culture, sports and tourism Kevin Yeung said the authorities are looking into the possibility of inviting the club to visit various places in Hong Kong and organising other activities to indirectly promote Hong Kong. However, the final decision will depend on the team and the footballers themselves.
