Seated comfortably under the Inmagine creative ecosystem is Pixlr - which has a sole mission to make design easy and accessible to all. Since the acquisition in 2017, the world’s most widely used cloud and mobile photo editing suite offers over ten million royalty free stock content exclusively to Subscribers to deliver smarter, faster and easier design experiences.

To date it has garnered tens of millions of monthly users, and is currently leveraging AI and machine learning to revolutionise content creation.   It has been downloaded over 130m times and has served more than 500m users. Largely targeting the creative community, the platform lures in the attention of largely influencers, graphic designers, art directors, photographers, small medium business owners, entrepreneurs, social media content producers, marketers, freelance designers, and of course students.

In a conversation with Marketing, Stephanie Sitt, Group CEO of Inmagine Group explains more about the offering. This article was done in collaboration with Inmagine Group.

Tell us about Pixlr and what makes it so unique?

Pixlr is a cloud-based image editing suite which features a streamlined interface, seamless editing in both browser programmes, updated tools and effects menu, and mobile responsive. This initiative is in line with Pixlr’s steadfast commitment to continuously offer effortless usage of its photo editor to both experts and creative enthusiasts. It provides seamless image editing across both Pixlr E and Pixlr X.

Our editing suite has helped people churn out creative content with or without design experience. With Pixlr, the learning curve is easy. From one-click tools and applications, to on and off toggles, and dragging sliders from left to right, creating with Pixlr is fuss-free. No downloads of software is required as its web accessible/browser-friendly and requires no loading time. Users can instantly start editing, and switch between Pixlr E and Pixlr X to perform basic and advanced edits seamlessly. Both photo editor versions enable an autosave of users’ projects history on browser cache.

How has Pixlr evolved with time to reflect changes its clients face?

We’re in the era of content creation where everyone is looking for a quicker and easier way to create content for work, business and personal use. We have integrated data, machine learning and artificial intelligence  to enhance user experience and journey.

With easy access, a simplified interface and modern editing tools, users can now create what they need without struggling with software compatibility, navigation and complex editing process.

Besides the ability to open almost any image format such as PSD (Photoshop), PXD, JPEG, PNG (transparent), WebP, and SVG, the AI-integrated features in the tool set allow users to create and modify images easily, from cropping to one-click background removal/cutout and auto-enhance effects and filters effortlessly.

We’re forging a future where design is within reach for everyone.

What are some of the biggest shifts in demands from clients you are seeing?

Users are always seeking for tools that are easier to use, and the ability to get things done faster, preferably on any platform (Mac, Windows, Chromebook) and without the need to download and install bulky software (cloud-based).

Hence, we built two cloud-based platforms, Pixlr X and Pixlr E. The idea is that any user can start with a simpler but powerful interface (Pixlr X) and then to easily move towards using the advanced version of image editing (Pixlr E). All of these happen without downloading any software and can be used on any platform with an Internet browser.  Smarter, faster, easier, is our goal and we will soon launch the Pixlr M (Mobile) where users can edit images on their phone without installing any apps.
