Malaysia and India sign MoU to strengthen tourism cooperation

Malaysia and India have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Malaysia's ministry of tourism, arts and culture and India's ministry of tourism to further strengthen co-operation in the tourism field.
The MoU was signed by Malaysia's tourism minister Tiong King Sing and India's tourism minister Shri Ganjendra Singh Shekhawat.
As part of the signed MoU, both nations will focus on the promotion and marketing of tourism products and services, expanding the field of tourism research, training and development and encourage investment in tourism infrastructure, facilities, products and services.

It will also cover the exchanging of information in the field of medical tourism and encourage stakeholders to promote the product.
On top of that, the MoU also focuses on business tourism, including meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) events.
In tandem, the MoU will see both nations promote cooperation between tourism stakeholders, tour operators and travel agents. Both nations will promote and develop community-based tourism, eco-tourism and responsible tourism too.
This comes after Malaysia and China celebrated its 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in June this year.
According to communications minister Fahmi Fadzil, the diplomatic relations established is a significant milestone to be celebrated and is an opportunity to enhance future cooperation and that it has borne considerable fruit over the past 50 years.
The minister reportedly added that the two nations can build together and ensure that the Southeast Asian region becomes more prosperous and peaceful.
