The Malaysian job market is expected to undergo some significant changes in 2025, presenting both opportunities and challenges for marketers. With the Malaysian economy recovering, new government initiatives such as those outlined in the Madani Budget 2025 are being implemented, further intensifying competition within the labor market.
In fact, 55% of organisations in Malaysia are planning to expand their recruitment efforts in the next 6 to 12 months. A majority (64%) of mid to senior-level professionals in Malaysia shared that they feel confident about job prospects in their field, and 44% said they were already actively seeking new opportunities even while employed. Fueling this confidence are anticipated salary increases, with 85% of organisations planning to increase salaries in 2025.
This is according to the Robert Walters Salary Survey 2025, which revealed that 89% of professionals are looking for new roles, while 47% of organisations are struggling to find the right talent due to difficulties with the candidate pipeline. However, a potential gap exists between what employers are willing to offer and employee expectations, as 32% of professionals are seeking salary increases of 25% or more, while 63% of employers find it challenging to meet such demands.
