Tokopedia rolls out payment feature with Indonesia's finance ministry

Tokopedia has launched a feature allowing users to pay for state services in collaboration with Indonesia's finance ministry. The "penerimaan negara" feature, which was rolled out in early August, enable Indonesians to make payment forĀ 900 types of state services under the three broad categories of online tax, customs duty and non-tax state revenue.Tokopedia co-founder and CEO William Tanuwijaya said the move is part of Tokopedia's commitment to meet Indonesians' daily needs. Finance minister Sri Mulyani added that the ease of tax payment will also encourage the participation of taxpayers and help to increase state revenue as a result.Through Tokopedia, members of the public can now pay for state services such as income tax, value-added tax, custom duties, passport extension, driver license and marriage certificate. Available payment methods include OVO Cash, OVO Points, interbank transfers, virtual accounts, direct debit and credit cards. After making the payment, the user will receive a receipt with a transaction number, which is official and recognised as proof by the government.In November 2018, Tokopedia addedĀ OVO as a payment method for purchase on its platform. The partnership benefited someĀ 80 million Tokopedia monthly active users and four million Tokopedia merchant partners. The merchants include malls,Ā warungs, and partners of GrabFood and Kudo agents. The eCommerce firm said it aims toĀ provide a more convenient shopping experience and contribute to increasing financial inclusion.More recently,Ā Tokopedia acquired wedding marketplace Bridestory and children activity marketplace Parentstory in June this year to reach newĀ market segments and provide greater value to its users.
