“We’ve admired Shopify’s platform for many years from afar, and it’s a proud moment to help them craft and share their story. Chances are if you shop with one of your favourite brands and peak beneath the hood, they’re powered by Shopify," said Rajiv Menon, the head of Singapore at Sling & Stone.
"Our agency exists to help tell the stories of brands shaping the future. The sheer scale of the impact Shopify already has on business small and large alike, and the shopping experience for millions around the world, is impossible to overstate. We’re just getting started, and so is Shopify,” he continued.
For nearly two decades, Shopify has been focused on simplifying complex commerce challenges for both merchants and consumers, powering millions of businesses globally, from small businesses to large SMEs and enterprises. It has also been operating in Southeast Asia for a decade, with local expertise and product offerings that cater to the requirements of businesses in Southeast Asia.
The news comes just months after customer and sales engagement company WATI (which stands for ‘WhatsApp Team Inbox’) has brought on board Shopify as an investor. This marks Shopify’s first venture investment in a startup operating in the Southeast Asia region. The news comes as WATI announces a US$23m series B funding round to scale the team and product and reach more businesses globally. The funding round was led by Tiger Global with participation from existing investors Sequoia Capital India and Southeast Asia, as well as new investors DST Global Partners and Shopify.
