Malaysian service-based digital signing solution, SigningCloud, a subsidiary of SecureMetric, has joined hands with Singapore’s Singpass to boost the security landscape as well as provide a more advanced solution for secure and efficient transactions.
Through this collaboration, SigningCloud aims to provide Singpass users with the ability to sign documents digitally, eliminating the vulnerability of traditional paper-based signatures.
To ensure that secure transactions are safe, SigningCloud’s digital signatures are to be backed by Singpass’ authentication measure, wherein the signatures will be legally binding and recognised under Singapore’s Electronic Transactions Act.
What sets SigningCloud apart is its seamless integration with Singpass, the gold standard in authentication gateways. Singpass, leveraging signing certificates issued by the National Certification Authority, empowers businesses and their customers to digitally sign agreements securely. By utilising Singpass's robust infrastructure, SigningCloud ensures that each signature is cryptographically linked to the signer, providing an additional layer of security.

"Digital signatures are not just about convenience, they are a fundamental pillar in fortifying cybersecurity," said Edward Law, CEO of Securemetric. He added that by adopting digital signatures, business and individuals can safeguard the documents, prevent unauthorised alterations, and uphold the highest standards of data integrity.
As part of the range of features offered by SigningCloud, users can create and save document templates, reducing the time spent on repetitive paperwork. The platform's intuitive interface allows for seamless document preparation, enabling users to prepare and send documents for signature with just a few clicks.
With the real-time document tracking feature and notifications, users are to be granted transparency and ensure that all stakeholders are aware of the signing progress.
Law said that SigningCloud allows for the team to eliminate the vulnerabilities associated with traditional paper-based transactions. "Our platform adheres to industry best practices and employs robust encryption techniques to safeguard our users' information. By adopting secure digital signatures, individuals and businesses can significantly reduce the risk of fraud, enhance customer experience, and streamline their workflow processes,” he added.
SigningCloud also has a bigger vision of playing a significant role in the digital signing ecosystem in the ASEAN region. "We are on a mission to realise cross-border signing in the future," Law shared.

Other attempts made to make online transactions more convenient include Maybank's launch of its cross-border quick response (QR) payment service, wherein customers traveling to Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand can make cashless and instant payment transactions via Maybank’s MAE app.
Maybank’s group CEO of community financial services, John Chong said that the cross-border QR payment service is an essential feature that facilitates travel for Malaysians abroad, as well as tourists coming into Malaysia to conduct cashless payments through their respective country’s currency.
Chong went on to add that this update also serves as a key to improving efficiency while promoting the digital economy and financial inclusion in the ASEAN region.
