A compelling and engaging event could make the difference between a vague consideration and an on-the-spot purchase. Similarly, a great physical experience can turn a bystander into a loyal customer, while impressions made at an event tend to stick. In this year's Marketing Events Awards, we have seen a number of stunning presentations that have pushed the industry forward.
KCP Kowloon City Plaza and Betake Marketing (HK) took home the coveted Best of Show - Brand and Best of Show - Agency awards respectively for the "KCP Reigniting the Collective Memory of HK Movies" event.
Aimed at recalling Hongkongers' memories of the city's old movies and promoting the reopening of a cinema at the mall, KCP Kowloon City Plaza rebuilt a replica of an old Hong Kong cinema, riding on the wave of reminiscence about the good old days in Hong Kong.
Apart from decorations mimicking old cinemas, the mall also included a wide range of activities and offerings such as traditional Hong Kong street food, movie costumes and traditional Chinese clothing from the 1950s, and a movie billboard painting exhibition and workshops.
The event was also promoted through print and online media, social media, influencers, and in-mall collaterals, attracting over 4.5 million visitors to the mall over the campaign period. Over 200 participants joined tours of the campaign, while the movie billboard painting workshops were also fully booked, with over 100 participants.
As the campaign received an overwhelming response from the public, the mall extended it until late February to allow more people to join.
