L'Oreal partners with SPARK! PH and TikTok to launch Digital Beauty Academy

Beauty company L'Oréal Philippines has partnered the local government of Quezon City, women's non-profit organisation SPARK! Philippines and TikTok to launch the very first cohort of the Digital Beauty Academy according to a tweet by the non-profit.

The Digital Beauty Academy is a beauty and social media entrepreneurship program that aims to empower each student and foster their growth as content creators while also providing them with work opportunities. The program currently has 261 students which includes women, men and members members of the LGBTQIA+ community from the six districts of Quezon City.

Through the partnership, L’Oreal has pledged to provide the students with make-up kits and other tools to assist them in their online content creation workshops.

Students of Digital Beauty Academy will participate in training and workshops focused on social media practices, financial literacy, and mental health which offers them a holistic support for their wellbeing.

The launch on May 19 2023 also saw the attendance of Mayor Joy Belmonte, Yannick Raynaud, country managing director L'Oreal Philippines, Kristoffer Rada head of public policy TikTok Philippines and Maica Teves executive director SPARK! Philippines to name a few.

For the first week of the Digital Beauty Academy, the students attended Michael Indon's Hair Care Basics and Make Up 101 workshop conducted by Chuchie Ledesma on May 20, 2023.

In recent news, L'Oreal acquired Aesop, a luxury skincare brand, for US$2.5 billion, according to a Natura & Co in a statement. 

It stated that it had reached an agreement under which L'Oréal will acquire Aesop to "[open] a new chapter of the luxury brand's growth" after 10 years under Natura & Co.

The transaction however is still subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in Q3 2023, according to Natura & Co. In the transaction, Morgan Stanley served as lead financial advisor while Bank of America served as financial advisor, and Davis Polk & Wardwell as main legal advisor to Natura &Co.
