Indonesian singer Hanin Dhiya graces NY Time Square billboard with Spotify

Indonesian artist, Hanin Dhiya, has been selected to be Spotify's EQUAL brand ambassador for Indonesia's playlist this month. According to, Warner Music Indonesia, the label in which Dhiya is under, she has been featured on New York's digital billboard in Time Square. 

Spotify has confirmed to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE's additional questions about her appointment. The EQUAL Hub is a dedicated space on Spotify to highlight women creators and the programme extends resources and opportunities to women artists. Dhiya has a total of 1,150,322 listeners monthly on the platform and currently has over 700,000 plays.

Previously, in June, Dhiya was featured on Spotify Indonesia's two playlists, Puncak Klasemen (Top of the charts) and Pop Balada (pop balad).

This is not Spotify EQUAL's first go at featuring leading Asian artists in the US. Previously it featured Malaysian singer and songwriter Siti Nurhaliza on the digital billboard in Times Square.  Since 2019, four other Malaysian singers have graced the Times Square billboard before Nurhaliza. They are Yuna, Layla Sania, girl group Dolla, and Iman Troye.

Meanwhile, other artists listed on EQUAL Malaysia and Singapore include Jasmine Sokko, Marian Carmel, Shye, RRILEY, Zamaera, and Narelle Kheng. A+M has reached out to Spotify and Universal Music for comment.
