Urban Outfitters features plus size model but offers no plus size products

Diversity is a huge topic in the beauty and fashion industry, and brands are under pressure to show their support through their marketing.In a bid to ride the diversity wave, Urban Outfitters hired plus sized model Barbie Ferreira and transgender model Hari Nef for its #UOClassof2017 campaign. This is alongside a slew of models which they deem “fresh faces” that also cover the people of colour demographic.While initially lauded by social media users for the diversity campaign, media publication Revelist pointed out that Ferreira’s measurements are not within the sizing Urban Outfitters offers. A quick check by Marketing found that to be true.Here is Ferreira's measurements according to her agency Wilhelmina Models. The body positive train is an approach most fashion brands are trying to take. But with brand authenticity growing in importance and consumers becoming smarter than ever, it is worth offering at least what you show on your ads don't you think?
