UA Cinema names new managing director

Ivan Wong, former senior vice president of Broadband Services marketing and SmartLiving Marketing at HKT, has left the company after almost two decades to join UA Cinema Circuit Limited as managing director.In his role, Wong will oversee all businesses units from cinema operations across Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Foshan, Shanghai, Wuhan, Chongqing and Chengdu. Additionally, he will be responsible for screen advertising, film acquisition and distribution as well as its restaurant groups like Thai Orchid, Studiocity, O3 and Starz Wine Bar.Wong spent 19 years at HKT working across the areas of marketing, sales, service development, market research and CRM for broadband, Wi-Fi, IPTV and mobile voice and data services in Hong Kong and mainland China. "Entertainment is an exciting industry and I am happy to enter a new field," Wong told Marketing.But he is not entirely new to the industry. In 2003, Wong helped establish now TV with managing director of TV and New Media Janice Lee, handling business planning and analysis works. He also spent a year in China to head up the marketing team for Product and CRM at Jetongda Company. These experiences paved the way for his current position in the cinema industry.
