Integrated communications agency RedHill has received funding from former director, communication strategy, at Havas Siren, Jacob Joseph Puthenparambil (pictured). He told Marketing that he has acquired a "significant minority stake" in the company. The agency was launched in January 2015 as a spin-off of social media agency Social Insurgence; the latter was a part of a larger events company called Creative Insurgence.RedHill aims to be a 360 agency, with most of the work done in-house. It will work as a consultancy to solve business problems.RedHill currently has a presence in six markets: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, India and Sri Lanka, with a total headcount of 12, the agency said.Surekha Yadav, director of RedHill, leads the Singapore office located at Boat Quay.Puthenparambil said, “In our region I think this industry has been mostly dominated by networks, you see independents rise and then be takeover by networks. If this is truly the Asian century, network model needs to be retired."“As an angel investor, you invest in people and not business plans. I think Yadav will be able to take RedHill all the way to realise its full potential, which is - a global communications consultancy with strong Asian roots.”His other investments include DealStreetAsia.com and MetroResidences.SG. Both have raised over a million dollars each from venture capitalists.Puthenparambil left Havas Siren in August 2015. The public relations unit was recently integrated into Havas Worldwide earlier in January.
