Malaysian brands get global spotlight

Getha, Lewré, MML, Maybank, Spritzer and Marini’s Group - these are the Malaysian brands that were named winners at the 2016 World Branding Awards held at London's prestigious Kensington Palace on Wednesday.The winners were judged through three streams such as brand valuation, consumer market research and public online voting. The event was organised by global non-profit organisation World Branding Forum, dedicated to advancing branding standards for the good of the branding community as well as consumers. 70% of the scoring process comes from consumer votes, said World Branding Forum's chairman Richard Rowles.Across the border, winners in Singapore were also named and these brands are Aztech, BreadTalk, ComfortDelGro, DBS, Great Eastern, Raffles Education, Singapore Airlines, Singtel and Skylight.Meanwhile Eu Yan Sang , Giordano, Lee Kum Kee, Mandarin Oriental and Watsons from Hong Kong; Indomie (Indonesia); Ajinomoto, Isetan, Kikkoman and Uniqlo from Japan; MTN from South Africa; Zara (Spain); and RAK Ceramics (UAE) were announced regional winners.The global winners of the branding award include Apple, BMW, the British Council, Cartier, Coca-Cola, Facebook, Google, Lego, L’Oral, Louis Vuitton, McDonald’s, Nescafe, Nike, Oral-B, Pampers, Rolex, Samsung, Starbucks, Schwarzkopf and VISA.
