Decathlon nabs new APAC head of eCommerce

Damien Schricke, Lazada's ex-senior vice president (SVP), head of RedMart and grocery, has joined Decathlon as its head of eCommerce APAC. 

As the head of eCommerce for APAC, Schricke will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing all aspects of Decathlon’s eCommerce operations in the Asia-Pacific region, said Decathlon in a statement when MARKETING-INTERACTIVE reached out. 

“After seven years working for my previous company, where I held leadership roles across a diverse portfolio covering commercial, operations and retail across FMCG grocery and general merchandise, an opportunity to join Decathlon presented itself," said Schricke.

"I was impressed by their intention to accelerate their eCommerce footprint across the APAC region with a true omnichannel model and decided to make a switch," added Schricke.

"Decathlon is a brand which I grew up with in France, and I have been following their expansion in the region. With my experience in retail operations and marketing, I envision moving Decathlon into the next phase of their digitalisation in the region.”

Schricke was at Lazada and Alibaba for seven years, starting as its vice president (VP) of commercial in 2017 before taking on the roles of SVP director of general merchandise, SVP head of LazMall and new retail and SVP head of operations and marketplace throughout the years. 

As Lazada's SVP head of RedMart of grocery, Schricke launched RedMart's free delivery for orders above SG$60, express delivery, RedMart for Business and RedMart Gourmet. He also launched "RedMart Time!", a campaign that builds mindshare. 

Other roles that Schricke has held in the past include lead buyer sourced products at International Cookware - PYREX from 2014 to 2016. At Auchan, he held several roles such as France country category manager, France international category buyer, China sourcing manager, home and living and China sourcing manager all categories. 

According to his LinkedIn profile, he started his career as an assistant trade marketing manager at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe in 2003.
