Channel NewsAsia Hits Myanmar's Shores

MediaCorp's news broadcaster Channel NewsAsia has made its foray into Myanmar signing up with Pay TV operator, Sky Net.CNA inked an agreement in Yangon with Shwe Than Lwin Media which owns Sky Net, a Direct-to-Home (DTH) and Multiplay Service (MPS) provider.CNA will be carried on Sky Net's Channels 40 and 20 of its DTH and Internet Protocol television (IPTV) platforms respectively. It will also be available on Forever Group's 24 hour channel MRTV- 4 International platform in Myanmar.The move into the market is done in line with CNA's latest 24 hour "live" offering from January 2013.CAN's managing director, Debra Soon said with Myanmar opening its doors to the world, Channel NewsAsia is privileged to be able to share its unique offering of news and information programmes with the people in Myanmar.Myanmar, post reforms has sparked a huge interest in the business fraternity with many companies already investing in the market or firming up plans to do so in the next few months.
