Astro Radio hands Ramesh Sankey new duties as CEO Jake Abdullah steps down

Jake Abdullah (pictured left), CEO of Astro Radio and talent arm Rocketfuel is leaving at the end of June to take on a new role at Fave in August. Fave did not comment on A+M’s queries.Taking on the reins at Astro as director of Radio and Rocketfuel, is chief content officer Ramesh Sankey (pictured right), who will report to Astro CEO Henry Tan. Astro’s spokesperson confirmed the news to A+M.Jake joined the group in 1996 and was named CEO of Astro Radio in December 2013. In his role, he oversaw Astro Radio’s strategic direction, particularly for brands and talent, as well as driving radex growth. He also spearheaded talent-driven content across the group’s platforms. Jake also led the setup of four Astro affiliated radio stations overseas, namely Aamar FM and Power FM in India; and Gen FM and Jak FM in Jakarta.Meanwhile as chief content officer, Sankey oversaw the creation, curation and execution of content of the 11 brands owned by Astro Radio. Among his duties included strategy formulation, brand and format assessment, client integration and brand marketing direction.“We thank Jake for his contributions in leading Astro Radio.
