Another Aeon Mall retailer fined for “indecent” Bio-essence poster

Another retailer at Aeon Mall has been fined by the Kota Baru Municipal Council (MPKB) for ‘indecent’ promotional posters, according to The Star.The poster in question features a woman who did not wear a hijab while promoting Bio-essence’s 24K Bio-Gold skincare products. It is displayed at a pharmacy at the Kota Baru Aeon Mall. According to the report, the owner was fined RM150.Aeon Mall’s Swee Cheong Watch & Pen Co also ran into similar trouble recently, facing fines for the display of ‘indecent’ promotional posters by the MPKB, according to The Star.The posters were of famous Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai posing for Longines, a Swiss watch brand and two models of opposite sex posing for fashion brand Guess’ watch line with arms interlocked.The owner was told to pay the fines before he started operating the shop in Aeon Mall in April. The fines have added up to as high as RM2,000, but he eventually paid RM400 before he was allowed to apply for a new permit for his new shop at Aeon Mall.
