JCDecaux's brand new street furniture lands in Macau

In 2023, JCDecaux unveils an ambitious smart city project in Macau. A minimum of 300 new smart Bus Shelters and fully digitised City Information Panels (CIPs) will gradually be deployed throughout Macau Peninsula, Taipa, Cotai, and Coloane. The expansion into Cotai, a major entertainment and tourism hub, is a significant milestone for us as it represents our venture into a new area where we previously had zero presence.

Visitors can find a fresh look in Macau as our new street furniture has progressively arrived in prime areas. One exciting addition is the double-sided digital CIP, which has debuted in Cotai. These high-definition panels are strategically located in the midst of a cluster of high-end hotels and popular tourist spots, offering advertisers with premium ad spaces to reach high-spending tourists.

Digital CIP sits adjacent to The Parisian in Cotai

The introduction of JCDecaux’s Macau Street Furniture has attracted the attention of leading brands. During the recent China National Day Golden Week, a peak sales period, Macau welcomed nearly one million visitors from 1 to 7 October 2024*.

Brands such as Lancôme, APM Monaco, LEONARD PARIS, Galaxy Macau, HSBC Life and Skechers took advantage of this influx by launching campaigns through the Macau Digital Frame Network. This network spans key tourist spots, luxury hotel clusters, and major border checkpoints in Macau Peninsula, Cotai, and Taipa, effectively reaching a large number of mainland tourists. Over two weeks, the 50-Digital Frame Network campaign garnered nearly 10 million impressions^.

Looking ahead, the upcoming Christmas and New Year period presents another prime opportunity for retail sales. By leveraging JCDecaux Cityscape’s cross-city shared format digital network, advertisers gain exclusive access to digital inventories in both Hong Kong and Macau, acting as a one-stop shop for advertisers. This network enables brands to effectively target and benefit from the growing number of Chinese tourists in both markets.
