Dentsu reveals strategy to follow through with 'pure holding company' structure

Dentsu will be renaming itself to Dentsu Group as it adopts a pure holding company structure in 2020 - a decision that was first announced in February.

According to a press release,?Dentsu Group aims to become a "teaming company", or a company of making all the companies one team, rather than a conventional holding company.

Dentsu Group said it will ensure not only group governance, but also aims to empower all group companies and individuals who create value and innovation. It hopes to fostering "an environment in which flexible teams transcending organisational barriers can be created".

Dentsu Group will establish an in-house company, Dentsu Japan Network, to formulate business plans and build the infrastructure for the group's overall operations in Japan. All the operational functions that Dentsu managed as an operating holding company to date will be succeeded to Dentsu Successor Preparation Corporation, whose trade name will be changed to Dentsu. The new Dentsu will be launched on 1 January 2020.

Dentsu Japan Network will design an environment, prepare supporting systems and provide opportunities to create innovation for 116 domestic group companies. It will shape a foundation to build a "flat and tightly knit" network that is able to respond quickly by forming optimal teams to tackle all issues. Based in Tokyo, Dentsu Group will be represented by president and CEO Toshihiro Yamamoto.

Meanwhile, all the functions of the current business operations of Dentsu will be succeeded to the new Dentsu. It?looks to create new value and new businesses by forming flexible teams not only within dentsu, but also with various external partners. It?is positioned as one of the 116 group companies in Japan and will pursue business growth in a "more autonomous manner" and accelerate its business transformation at a greater speed.

Moreover, it will share and strengthen its knowledge and client portfolios within the network, and collaborate with other operating companies internally with diverse expertise to enhance its solutions and value of services.
