DDB Group Hong Kong (DDB HK) has named Leo Tsui as its chief business officer across the entire agency group.

Formerly the chief digital officer for DDB HK and president of Tribal Worldwide Hong Kong, Tsui’s main responsibility will now be to create business opportunities for the agency and its clients.

Tsui commented, “I am delighted to be stepping into this new role. We are clearly facing a difficult year but the agency has a lot of momentum. I am looking forward to the challenge ahead, especially knowing I will be working alongside a passionate, and most importantly, unified team, here at DDB.”

Since joining the agency in 2016, Tsui has garnered a strong reputation internally at the agency. He was specifically lauded for rebuilding the digital side of the business and achieving consistent year-on-year growth.

Andreas Krasser, CEO at DDB Group Hong Kong remarked, “Leo is a hustler - he was a major force that helped us achieve growth in 2019 despite all the challenges Hong Kong was facing. With the year ahead looking even tougher, we need his drive and determination across the entire group, as well as his passion for expanding and strengthening brands’ connections with their customers.” Krasser added, “Leo will closely collaborate with a newly formed, fully integrated management team.”

Tsui’s elevation is part of apparent larger management revamping at DDB HK. The agency has also recently added to its fold Adrian Tso as group strategy director, Maggie Cheung and Koman Ko as group business directors, and Marco Lam as ECD.

Commenting on what the future plans are for the agency group, Krasser said, “2020 is undoubtedly going to be difficult for everyone. I believe the only way to get through this is by doubling down on creativity - creativity that provides brands with an emotional advantage during times that are clearly far from rational. With the new management team united behind this belief, I am confident that DDB and our clients will be able to weather the storm and find new areas of opportunity. After all, as Bill Bernbach said, ‘creativity is the most powerful force in business’ and never before have so many brands been in need of a positive force.”
