Singapore - Lonely Planet has tied-up with M1 to launch its mobile internet site in Singapore to provide real time access to the brand's travel content.

The service is exclusive to M1 customers in Singapore, and available through its MiWorld Mobile portal. It features a 'What's Around Me?' feature which enables users to select their current or planned location to get Lonely Planet recommendations for the nearest restaurants, nightlife spots, hotels, shops and sights on their mobile phone.

"Through our mobile services, we're able to extend the sense of adventure associated with Lonely Planet to people's everyday lives and provide contextually relevant answers to a new set of questions like ‘What should I explore today?' and ‘What's nearby to me that's worth experiencing?" Chris Boden, Lonely Planet's director of global business development, said.

Destination information is also available for Africa, Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, Central America, Europe, the Middle East, North America and South America. When searching for a destination in ‘What's Around Me', users can search specifically for what's near a numbered address, cross-streets, cities, suburb or postcode.

M1 said normal data charges of $0.0107/kb will apply for browsing the Lonely Planet m-site on MiWorld Mobile.
