Ikea rapped over new range
Hong Kong - To promote its 2009 catalogue, Swedish furniture company Ikea has rolled a series of in-store and outdoor event promotions at its three local outlets.
Janet Lai, marketing director for Ikea, said launching its yearly range was "the most thrilling time" of every year.
"To bring more excitement to our customers this year, we are celebrating the launch with a totally new event - a fun-filled street hip-hop and mime show."
The promotions comprise of a two part performance. The first part of the performance was an outdoor street dance and song rapping parade where the group of dancers engaged dancing and tailor-made song rapping to demonstrate the special features of Ikea's new product range for next year.
The second part of the performance include an indoor mime show where Ikea invited professional mime artists to demonstrate the new ideas and features of Ikea home furnishing products and accessories at its Causeway Bay, Kowloon Bay and Shatin stores.
A TV spot developed by Leo Burnett to promote Ikea's range is current beign aired on local TV.
