Sohu's Q2 revenue hits record high
Hong Kong - Chinese online media giant Sohu.com said an increased shift in advertising budgets from offline to online has further enhanced the effectiveness of advertisers' marketing campaigns on the Sohu platform.
The group's second quarter total revenues has grown to a record US$102 million, with an increase of 162% year-on-year, driven primarily by brand advertising, advertising, online games and non-ad revenues.
Advertising revenues accounted for US$43.4 million, a growth of 53% year-on-year.
Belinda Wang, Co-President and Chief Marketing Officer of Sohu.com, said the group experienced strong growth in brand advertising revenues.
Charles Zhang, Chairman and CEO of Sohu.com, said strong media influence, content offerings and the increased popularity of its products such as blogs and online games contributed to the revenue surge. "We are very pleased with our strong performance this quarter."
As one of the Beijing Olympic Sponsors, Sohu has spent more than RMB2 million on Olympic-related ads in the second quarter of this year, according to the Nielsen Online.
