Telecommunications products outstripped all other categories in the latest search figures from Hitwise with M1 topping the list of all searched for brand names in Singapore in the consumer electronics category.

Singtel was the next most popular search term followed by Australian electronics retailer Harvey Norman. The appearance of several other mobile phone related brands, Star Hub, Singtel Shop and Mobile Square illustrated the popularity mobile phone searches in the category.

The most popular search terms as opposed to searched for brand was LCD TV followed closely by hand phone and mobile phone.

Other specific product groups that Singaporeans appear to be searching for include car accessories particularly car audio, DVD players, PDAs and even fridges, which all made it into the top 10 search terms.

The data, supplied by Hitwise, covers the 24 weeks up until June 24, 2006.
