Wilson Tan is logistics provider TNT’s new director of human resources, legal and corporate affairs. Tan joined as a legal counsel in 1998 first established TNT’s legal function in Asia. In his new position, Tan will oversee the maintenance of the five international certificates that TNT has achieved in. They are namely best practices in quality and environmental management; occupational health and safety; people development as well as social accountability. “We operate in a service industry, and providing the very best customer experience is a core differentiator for the business. The well-being of our staff, the way they work, the environments in which they work in – these are critical to ensure their ability and motivation to deliver excellent service all the time,” said Onno Boots, regional managing director for Southeast Asia.

Jenny Tan Eng Eng has replaced Ong Tiong Eng as Singapore Management University’s new director for human resources and faculty administration. Tan will play a holistic and strategic role to ensure a seamless process in talent acquisition, promotion, staff benefits, employee development and engagement and other HR related matters that will enable SMU to continue to attract the best talent and academic scholars. Speaking on her new company, Tan says, “The university is very much socially and intellectually attuned, and there is a great sense of collegiality among the staff, students and faculty that makes it a refreshing and energising place to work in everyday.”

Alstom Transport has appointed Fabienne Langlet as their new Singapore HR director and Compensation and Benefits director for the Asian Pacific region. In her dual role, Langlet will oversee the overall HR policies of Singapore and help establish the compensation and benefits policies for the staff in the region. Langlet transferred from the France office and  Alstom’s HR director for North Europe, and vice-president for C&B. Comparing to her previous roles, Langlet noted her current role is more operational. She went on to add, “The European market is also very different from the Asia Pacific market as Asia Pacific is a growing market so lots of emphasis needs to be put in the compensation and benefits to retain the staff in this region.”

Joan Chung has recently been accepted by Meritus Hotels and Resorts' as the vice president of HR to oversee human resources areas, like policy-making, compensations and benefits. She is also required to be actively involved in pre-opening human resource activities until the HR Director is hired at the hotel level. Compared to her previous position at the aviation industry, Joan finds the former structure flat while there is a bigger role and influence on strategy making at the corporate office.  The ambitious and concrete expansion plans at Meritus Hotels and Resorts, along with the challenge and dynamism of it all were what enticed Joan to be a part of Meritus. “As anticipated, it has been very interesting with the excitement and challenges of new hotels coming under our belt.”
