BMW sponsors budding filmmakers
Malaysia - BMW has opened the latest BMW Shorties awards to nurture aspiring filmmakers in the country. The competition is a manifestation of inter-cultural communications, one of the company's key pillars.
This year's theme is H2O, whereby water (H2O) is the clean by-product of BMW's CleanEnergy efforts in pioneering the use of sustainable hydrogen power.
In addition to awards given by judges, the public will be also be engaged in the judging process where the winner with the most online votes will win the People's Choice Award.
The film should be less than 20 minutes long, and the winning film will be showcased through BMW's global network.
Judges of the competition are: Raymond Red, independent filmmaker from the Phillipines; Ida Nerina, actress; Tan Chui Mui, award-winning director; and Abdullah Zahir Omar, last year's winner.
Last year's Omar's winning film entry, K-hole, was an exploration and critique of life after death from the point of view of the living. The winnings from the competition funded Omar's next short film - Teddy & I.
