Hong Kong - TimeOut, a UK-based magazine currently expanding around the region, will launch in Hong Kong with Rubicon believed to have landed the license to publish a local version.

Desiree Au, former editor of the South China Morning Post's Post Magazine has been appointed publisher of TimeOut, according to industry sources.

The magazine launched in Sydney and Singapore last year and is understood to be eyeing Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta markets.

The Singapore edition is published under license by Ink Publishing.

Locally, media directors from OMD, Carat and ZenithOptimedia were in the dark about a TimeOut launch, but persistent rumors about its arrival have been widely circulated.

Rubicon, a small local publishing outfit, is believed to have secured a Wan Chai office and appointed a number of editorial staff, including former writers of the Post Magazine.
