Hong Kong - With inward investment to Hong Kong growing at a rate of 5.6% a year, Invest Hong Kong has overhauled its web portal, with a view to strengthen its offering to global business looking to set up in Hong Kong.

"Hong Kong has so much to offer and our role is to ensure that we communicate those benefits clearly in a relevant manner," Simon Galpin (pictured), director general of InvestHK, said.

"It is very important that we recognise businesses have a choice when looking to invest in Asia."

Last week InvestHK, the inward investment department of the Hong Kong Government, revealed 209 overseas and Mainland Chinese companies had set up or expanded to Hong Kong in the first six months of 2012, up 5.6% from 2011.

Despite the global uncertainty, Galpin said the 209 companies came from 32 countries including Mainland China, the largest single source of investment into Hong Kong, followed by the US (37), Japan (22), the UK (18) and Germany (12).

Galpin said the department would meet its 2012 targets and added the new site will be a "tremendous help" in achieving these objectives.

The site, designed and developed by StartJG, contains more than 2,000 pages of content in multiple languages, highlighting Hong Kong's major business advantages to detailed information on setting up a company.

It also contains news and details of InvestHK events around the world, showcasing the depth and breadth of Hong Kong's global reach.

Jonathan Cummings, managing director of StartJG Hong Kong, an agency that has worked closely with InvestHK since its Hong Kong launch, said creating a simple and seamless user experience was key.

"When we set up in Asia we chose Hong Kong for a number of compelling reasons that worked for us. The new InvestHK site is focused on helping businesses quickly understand what Hong Kong can offer them, delivering a simple and seamless user experience."
