Singapore – Boom Event Management, the events arm of advertising agency Crush and PR agency Bang has appointed Thomas Ang -- ex-Executive Director of outdoor advertising company Posterscope -- as its new Managing Director. Ang will officially assume his duties on January 1. “My vision for the company is to bring it to the next level -- we don’t have to look at events management as that in itself, it can have different shapes and sizes and there are many roles to play,” Ang told Marketing Weekly, adding that the Singapore Tourism Board’s ongoing promotion of MICE-targeted events and the Government’s go-ahead to establish two Integrated Resorts would offer “excellent opportunities” for Boom.  Ang’s responsibilities at the moment include deciding the direction of the company as well as the sorts of events it will take on. “The market for events is growing, and it’s becoming more competitive -- my aim is to create a niche market for Boom with a few areas we want to focus on, such as media presentations, awards, conferences and festivals as my key strengths lie in these areas,” he said. “My main challenge now is to clinch new business and events that are proprietary to Boom -- with the right team, focus and objectives, this can be a very lucrative business,” he added. Ang left Posterscope after 10 months on the job, citing “entrepreneurship” reasons for his exit. He was previously General Manager at Comfort Ads for a decade in charge of the taxi advertising business and before that a Senior Executive for seven years at now-defunct outdoor advertising company Pearl & Dean.
