Hong Kong - Daniel Jeffreys has left his job at the South China Morning Post for a role with Edipresse Asia as managing editor of the Hong Kong and Macau editions of Tatler.

As managing editor Jeffreys (pictured) will be responsible for all editorial content, staff management and budgets for Hong Kong Tatler and Macau Tatler.

He reports to Edipresse Hong Kong’s editor-in-chief Sean Fitzpatrick, who can now focus on the group's 16 other print and digital titles. Fitzpatrick hinted that new titles may be in the pipeline.

Jeffreys spent almost three years as magazines editor at the South China Morning Post where he ran the SCMP's Post and Style magazines.

Jeffreys, a well known journalist and author, may be known to some for his days writing for London's Daily Mail, where it was alleged he fabricated an eyewitness account of an execution in the US. The Village Voice also claimed to have caught him inventing an interview. Details can be read here.

His long career include stints with the London Times and the Daily Telegraph. During his time in the United States, he sold half a dozen stories to Hollywood film producers and worked on projects with Keanu Reeves, Irwin Stoff, Roger Michel, Mike Medavoy and Bill Mechanic.

He has also five books and is currently at work on an biography and a Hong Kong-based thriller.
