Equinox wins China Merchants credit business

Shanghai - Equinox of ZenithOptimedia has won the media planning and buying account for China Merchants Bank's credit card business (CMBC) after a pitch with MEC, Starcom MediaVest Group and OMD.

MediaCom, the incumbent, did not participate in the pitch.

Effective from 1 March, Equinox of ZenithOptimedia, a sister agency to ZenithOptimedia China, will be responsible for traditional media planning for CMBC's new credit card launch across China.

"CMB Credit Card has an excellent reputation with Chinese consumers as a pioneering and innovative brand," said Steven Chang, Greater China CEO of ZenithOptimedia.

Wee Ching Ian, managing director of Equinox, added that: "An integrated, strategic approach to media that amplifies the CMB brand promise amongst consumers provided us with the winning edge."

Headquartered in Shenzhen, China Merchants Bank is an international commercial bank with over five hundred branches in mainland China, Hong Kong and New York.
