China's national watch ticks with McCann
Guangzhou- China's publicly listed watch brand, Fiyta has hired McCann Erickson Guangzhou as its advertising agency tasked to handle communication campaigns.
McCann won the business following a pitch against other 4A agencies in Guangzhou and Shanghai.
McCann Guangzhou will be responsible for Fiyta's promotional campaigns comprising TV, print and in- store.
According to the agency, Fiyta selected McCann due to its understanding of the Chinese watch market, its unique views on celebrity endorsements as well as experience working with luxury clients such as Cadillac, Tiffany and L'Oreal.
Fiyta, meaning flying in the sky of the world, was established in 1987.
The watch company designs, manufactures and sells watches under the Fiyta and Harmony brands.
In 2004, Fiyta ousted Omega in the space timing device category to become the official watch for China's manned space program and developed complex watch engines for the Shenzhou VII spacecraft in 2007.
Fiyta currently owns more than 600 sales branches in the major cities of the world.
The brand has signed on Hong Kong actor Louis Koo as its new annual brand celebrity.
