Edelman revamps tech practice
Hong Kong - Edelman has made two senior appointments in its technology practice in Hong Kong as part of a plan to grow its share of the fast-growing sector.
Andres Vejarano has joined Edelman as director of its Hong Kong Technology Practice, joining the independent PR group from Hong Kong-based fashion accessories firm B.BASE IDG.
Vejarano also spent five years as Asia head of marketing and PR for Microsoft's Entertainment & Devices division, where he was responsible for the Xbox game console.
He brings over 20 years marketing communications experience from technology, digital and lifestyle firms.
Edelman's former Hong Kong technology practice Director Molly Mulloy is returning to the United States, but will continue to consult to the firm from abroad.
In addition, Lilian Tai has joined the Edelman Technology practice as senior client manager. Tai brings nine years Hong Kong agency experience to her new role, most recently as account supervisor in the Technology Practice at Weber Shandwick and formerly with the Hoffman Agency.
"Andres' exceptional experience in the consumer technology marketing space and Lilian's strength in B2B and corporate PR will deliver Edelman clients solid, well-rounded counsel and execution across the sector," said Mr Damian Coory, Managing Director, Edelman Hong Kong.
"Hong Kong is a strong technology market, but it's our opinion that the so-called local ‘tech PR' shops have become just a little too specialised and inward-looking. With Andres and Lilian joining us, our clients are getting the benefit of great sector expertise and focus and a much broader view of the public relations landscape," said Coory. "It's about delivering specialisation without losing sight of the bigger picture in the process."
"Our technology practice has grown steadily in the past few years because clients realise that in today's fast-changing environment only a large global PR firm like Edelman can keep up and deliver true insight and thought leadership," he said.
