Edelman reworks North Asia management
Hong Kong - Edelman has tweaked its North Asia leadership, appointing Charles Lankester as North Asia president and Damian Coory as managing director for Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Lankester's role kicks in from 1 October at which point he will relocate to South Korea. Lankester joined Edelman in 2005 as managing director, Corporate Practice Asia Pacific. He was appointed Managing Director, China & Taiwan in May, 2007.
Coory, previously Edelman's regional managing director for Crisis & Training, joined the firm in 2004 following completion of his MBA and three years as a Director in Hong Kong and Australia with Hill & Knowlton.
Lankester said a strong North Asia operation is critical to the agency, adding that Edelman has strong and successful operations in both South Korea and Japan.
"I look forward to working with the leadership teams in each office to build on our success and grow revenues, business and staff there in the immediate future," said Lankester.
Alan VanderMolen (pictured), president of Edelman Asia Pacific, said he was confident that Lankester and Coory will successfully apply their proven abilities to build the business, reputation and brand in their respective markets.
Coory added that the PR industry was witnessing a "transformation" in the media sector that is forcing a complete rethink of how to communicate with critical stakeholders.
"I can't think of a more exciting time to be leading a global PR firm across these two very important markets," he said.
"These are interesting and exciting times for the reputation of business and government. Public engagement is a necessity for those who wish to survive and thrive in the post-crisis world and Edelman has the expertise and experience to help clients navigate these new challenges."
