INSTITUTE OF ADVERTISING SINGAPORE     SINGAPORE EFFIE AWARDS
  • SIAC features two top speakers
  • Combines with Effie Awards
  • First Grand Prix to be handed out

Singapore - The Singapore International Advertising Congress (SIAC) will be held on 17 July in conjunction with the Singapore Effie Awards, with this year's theme to be 'Ideanomics: Creativity on a budget'.

Presented by the Institute of Advertising Singapore, the event will feature some of the industry's leading minds as they discuss a range of topics around the theme while the event will culminate in the Effie awards presentation where a Grand Prix will be awarded.

Two international marketing experts will be speaking at the SIAC. The first is Adam Morgan, the best-selling author of Eating the Big Fish: How Challenger Brands Can Compete against Brand Leaders and The Pirate Inside: Building a Challenger Brand Culture within Yourself and Your Organisation. He will speak on the rise of challenger brands and what agencies and marketers can learn from them.

The second is Steve Henry, Founder of HHCL (formerly Howell Henry Chaldecott Lury and Partners; now United London). Henry will speak about how creativity will change in the era of constantly emerging media. Both speakers will also conduct "master classes" where participants will have the opportunity to tap into their expertise and experience.

The sixth Singapore Effie Awards will also be held at the Congress. The finalists will showcase their campaigns and end with an open discussion on thoughts and ideas on how to improve the campaign.

Winners will be announced at the end of the event and for the first time in Singapore history, the Effies will award a Grand Prix Effie.

"This will be a great opportunity to see some of the best work done in Singapore over the last 12 months,"  Frederique Covington, chief judge of the Singapore Effies and regional executive planning director of Bates 141, said.

"Marketers will find it a great opportunity to survey the agencies and ideas that truly deliver ROI."
